Becky manages the Hotel. Since working at different hotels it became her dream to run her own hotel with her husband Dave. Mum, Dad and Becky’s Brother Tom decided that the only way that the dream could become a reality was to sell the family house. All this happened in 2006 and on the day before the August Bank Holiday, the move took place.
Dave, Becky’s Husband, is Head Chef. Dave has a passion for producing delicious meals and exciting new recipes. His love of cooking began at an early age when making lemon cakes while standing on a chair in his mothers kitchen. Dave is not often seen outside the kitchen and is known as the “Lesser Spotted Chef” as he is quite retiring by nature.
Tom, Becky’s brother, is also one of the less prominent members of the team. He involves himself with purchasing and ground maintenance.
Apart from being chief peace keeper, Eve, Becky’s Mum, works on the accounts and as interior design consultant.
Becky’s Dad still has difficulty taking orders from his daughter and is working towards his retirement which he hopes will involve cycle racing .
The youngest member of the team is Isabella who joined in February 2007. She has taken an active role in all aspects of the management of the hotel and still has some time available to go to the local junior school where she is learning how to manage her school teachers.
The eggs we use are from Birchgrove Eggs based approximately 5 miles away at Trawscoed. They are award winning free range eggs. When we first arrived, Dave asked Gwen (of Birchgrove Eggs) if “the eggs were nice and fresh” and by reply she held the phone outside – and Dave heard clucking in answer to his question!
We use Rob Rattray for most of our meat supplies, the meat is all local and Rob lives in a farm down the road.
All of the food is made with the freshest quality ingredients that are available to us and hopefully this will be reflected in the food you eat whilst you are staying with us.
We do have many ideas and projects in mind however please feel free to make any suggestions for improvements and ideas that you would like to see implemented when you come and stay next time. There is a comments card in your bedroom, feel free to use it! Our philosophy is ‘if we don’t know how can we change it’ so please do mention anything you feel is pertinent.
